Retail in East Africa is mid-transition. Supermarket chains have consolidated. Specialty shops in fashion, electronics, and home goods compete with both modern malls and informal markets. E-commerce has finally become viable thanks to mobile money and improved last-mile logistics.

EABD lists supermarkets, fashion and apparel retailers, electronics shops, specialty stores, e-commerce sellers, and the wholesalers behind them. Verified profiles include stores' physical locations, online presence, payment options, and reviews.

About Somalia

Somalia's private sector has grown largely on its own terms. Livestock exports through Berbera, Bosaso and Kismayo, a remittance and money-transfer industry that connects the diaspora to every town, some of the continent's most widely used mobile-money services, and a construction and import trade centred on Mogadishu keep the economy moving. Somalia joined the East African Community in 2024, opening its traders to a market of more than 300 million people.

EABD lists Somali businesses in Mogadishu and across all 18 regions, from Hargeisa and Borama in the north-west to Garowe, Galkayo, Baidoa and Kismayo. Browse by region, by town, or by industry. Where a business is verified, EABD has confirmed its registration with the relevant ministry or chamber of commerce and its contact details, so buyers, NGOs and diaspora investors can reach a real counterpart directly.
