Manufacturing in East Africa is wider than the headlines suggest. Beyond the well-known beverages, cement, and textile sectors there are factories producing edible oils, packaging, plastics, metal fabrications, furniture, processed foods, agro-inputs, building materials, and electronics assembly. The sector is supported by a deepening industrial parks programme in each EAC country.

EABD's manufacturing listings cover food and beverage processors, textile and apparel manufacturers, chemicals and plastics, metal fabricators, wood and furniture, electronics assembly, and packaging. Verified profiles include factory location, capacity (where the business publishes it), certifications such as ISO and HACCP, and reviews from B2B buyers.

About Somalia

Somalia's private sector has grown largely on its own terms. Livestock exports through Berbera, Bosaso and Kismayo, a remittance and money-transfer industry that connects the diaspora to every town, some of the continent's most widely used mobile-money services, and a construction and import trade centred on Mogadishu keep the economy moving. Somalia joined the East African Community in 2024, opening its traders to a market of more than 300 million people.

EABD lists Somali businesses in Mogadishu and across all 18 regions, from Hargeisa and Borama in the north-west to Garowe, Galkayo, Baidoa and Kismayo. Browse by region, by town, or by industry. Where a business is verified, EABD has confirmed its registration with the relevant ministry or chamber of commerce and its contact details, so buyers, NGOs and diaspora investors can reach a real counterpart directly.
