The NGO and development sector in East Africa is large, professional, and consequential. International humanitarian agencies, regional NGOs, local community-development organisations, research and advocacy bodies, and grant-making foundations all operate here, often staffed by some of the most experienced development professionals on the continent.

EABD lists NGOs, humanitarian agencies, community-development organisations, research and advocacy bodies, and grant-makers that have a formal business or trust structure. Verified profiles include focus areas, geographies served, funding sources where disclosed, and reviews from partner organisations.

About Somalia

Somalia's private sector has grown largely on its own terms. Livestock exports through Berbera, Bosaso and Kismayo, a remittance and money-transfer industry that connects the diaspora to every town, some of the continent's most widely used mobile-money services, and a construction and import trade centred on Mogadishu keep the economy moving. Somalia joined the East African Community in 2024, opening its traders to a market of more than 300 million people.

EABD lists Somali businesses in Mogadishu and across all 18 regions, from Hargeisa and Borama in the north-west to Garowe, Galkayo, Baidoa and Kismayo. Browse by region, by town, or by industry. Where a business is verified, EABD has confirmed its registration with the relevant ministry or chamber of commerce and its contact details, so buyers, NGOs and diaspora investors can reach a real counterpart directly.
